Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf has accused the United States of attempting to achieve its war objectives through diplomatic pressure after failing to do so militarily, warning that any US ground attack would face a decisive response.
In a statement posted on Telegram, Qalibaf said the US was publicly calling for negotiations while allegedly preparing for a possible ground operation against Iran. He stated that Iran is fully prepared for any escalation and would respond firmly to any ground assault on its territory.
According to Qalibaf, Washington is presenting a 15-point proposal aimed at achieving objectives it could not accomplish during the conflict, seeking through diplomacy what it failed to secure on the battlefield.
Iran earlier rejected the reported US proposal to end the war, stating any ceasefire would take place only on Tehran’s terms and timeline. Officials reportedly outlined five conditions for ending the conflict, including a complete halt to attacks and assassinations.
The developments come amid reports that thousands of US troops are being deployed to the Middle East, pending a decision by US President Donald Trump on further military action.
Since late February, the US and Israel have carried out airstrikes on Iran, while Iran has responded with drone and missile attacks targeting Israel and regional locations hosting US military assets, causing casualties, infrastructure damage, and disruptions to global markets and aviation.
