Jerusalem, July 26 – Israel will pause its military operations in Gaza for one day on Sunday, according to Israeli media reports. The decision was made by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after talks with Defense Minister Israel Katz, Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar, and other senior officials.
The pause comes after growing international pressure over the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza. Aid groups have warned of rising hunger and lack of basic supplies since Israel shut all border crossings in March.
Israel’s army said humanitarian airdrops would resume Saturday night. By evening, Palestinian sources confirmed that aid was being dropped over parts of northern Gaza.
The move is being seen as a small but important step to ease suffering in the area. However, aid organizations continue to call for longer ceasefires and better access to deliver food, water, and medicine.
There is no word yet on whether the fighting will stop beyond Sunday, but the pause may open space for further talks.
