Gaza, February 21 (QNA) – Palestinian prisoner institutions and organizations announced that Israeli authorities are set to release 602 Palestinian prisoners on Saturday, as part of the seventh phase of the prisoner exchange deal between Hamas and Israel.
The Prisoners’ Information Office confirmed in a press statement on Friday that following Hamas’ submission of the names of the six Israeli prisoners scheduled for release tomorrow, 50 prisoners serving life sentences, 60 prisoners with high sentences, and 47 re-arrested prisoners from the “Wafa Al-Ahrar” exchange deal will be freed.
Additionally, 445 prisoners from Gaza, who were detained after October 7, 2023, will also be released.
Earlier today, Hamas announced that it would release six Israeli prisoners tomorrow as part of the seventh phase of the prisoner exchange deal with Israel. The six Israeli prisoners to be released are Eliya Cohen, Omer Shem Tov, Tal Shoham, Omer Wenkert, Avera Mengistu, and Hisham Al-Sayed.
On January 19, a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement between Hamas and Israel came into effect. The first phase of this agreement will last for 42 days, during which negotiations for the second and third phases will be conducted with Qatari and Egyptian mediation, supported by the United States.
