GAZA CITY, Palestine/ISTANBUL – Over 200 Palestinians were killed, and 300,000 forcibly displaced from northern Gaza to Gaza City within 48 hours as Israeli military operations intensified, according to the Gaza Media Office.
The Media Office reported that Israeli airstrikes targeted residential areas, resulting in the complete or partial destruction of more than 1,000 housing units. The forced displacement of civilians has overwhelmed Gaza City, which lacks the necessary infrastructure to accommodate the massive influx of people.
“In yet another crime added to Israel’s bloody record, more than 200 martyrs were killed in north Gaza governorate alone over the past 48 hours, in a continuing series of massacres,” the statement read.
The Office further claimed that approximately 140 victims remain trapped under rubble as Israeli forces allegedly block ambulance and civil defense teams from accessing bombing sites, hindering rescue operations in violation of international humanitarian law.
Additionally, Israeli drones reportedly burned hundreds of tents meant for sheltering displaced families in Tel al-Zaatar, Jabalia Camp, Beit Lahia, and other northern areas. The Media Office condemned what it described as “suspicious international silence” over the escalating violence.
In Gaza City, thousands of families are left to shelter in the streets, particularly on al-Jalaa Street and in the al-Saftawi area, with severe shortages of food, water, and medicine amid continued siege and bombardment.
The Media Office called for urgent international intervention to halt the attacks, facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid, and hold Israeli leaders accountable in international courts.
Since the conflict reignited in October 2023, the death toll has exceeded 53,200, with Gaza enduring crippling blockades that prevent essential supplies from entering the region.
