MIRPUR ( AJK): Jan. 6: ” We are reminded every day of the massacres in Induan Illegally occupied Jammu Kashmir state perpetrated by India. Today, we particularly recall the horrific ‘Sopore Massacre of 1993 by Indian occupational military forces where 57 innocent lives were lost, with some reports suggesting even higher casualties”, said Istanbul-based exiled Kashmiri leader and ex President Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industries Srinagar Dr. Mubeen Shah.
“Additionally, property worth tens of millions of rupees was burned to ashes, leaving devastation in its wake”, Dr. Shah said in a message reaching and released to the media here late Monday.
“At the same time, Kashmiris continue to hold onto hope for the implementation of the Right Of Self Determination as enshrined in the 5th January 1949 resolution passed by the United Nations Security Council.
Dr. Mubeen Shah said “in this struggle for self-determination, another critical dimension was the unfettered right to decide their future.
” Since Kashmiris also fully hopeful of Pakistan to secure its constitutional guarantee through implementation of UN resolutions on Kashmir that Kashmiris will be granted this much-awaited right to self determination, it is imperative for the Pakistani political leadership to unequivocally reaffirm their commitment to this principle, ensuring that Kashmiris feel supported and assured of Pakistan’s role as their steadfast ally, well wisher and a strong advocate of their just and principled struggle for right to self determination under the spirit of international norms and commitments especially the UN resolutions on the international conflict, required to be settled with out further loss of time for emergence of everlasting and durable peace in the region”, Dr. Shah concluded.
