MIRPUR (AJK), March 13 — Veteran Kashmiri trade union leader and Supreme Head of Markazi Anjuman-e-Tajran (Ittehad Group), Chaudhry Mahmood, expressed full solidarity with the oppressed Palestinian people on International Quds Day, observed globally on Friday.
“We commemorate Palestine Solidarity Day every year not just for a geographic region, but as a symbol of resistance against oppression, illegal occupation, and injustice by Israel,” Mahmood said.
He highlighted that the plight of Palestinians resonates deeply with the struggle of Kashmiris for self-determination and freedom. Mahmood condemned the ongoing illegal occupation of Muslim sanctified land, illegal settlements, land confiscations, and systematic human rights violations in Palestine, calling them stark reminders of the urgency to address global oppression.
“The continual siege of Gaza, destruction over the past three years, expansion of settlements in the West Bank, and displacement of families are clear violations of international law and basic human decency,” he said.
Mahmood affirmed that the struggle for Palestine is a global fight for justice, human rights, and dignity, and reiterated the Kashmiri business community’s unwavering support for the cause. He urged the international community, including the United Nations, human rights organizations, and global civil society, to take concrete measures to protect civilians, provide humanitarian assistance, and hold perpetrators accountable.
He also linked the Palestinian and Kashmiri struggles, calling for the liberation of illegally occupied Muslim homelands in Palestine and Jammu & Kashmir, and urged global solidarity against imperialism, colonialism, and oppression. Mahmood emphasized the importance of raising awareness, educating the public, and mobilizing international opinion to ensure sustained support for oppressed peoples worldwide.
“On this International Quds Day, let us recommit to principles of solidarity and resistance, standing united for peace, justice, and equality for all peoples,” Mahmood concluded.
