MIRPUR (AJK) – Jammu and Kashmir marked Pakistan Day on March 23 with full zeal and fervor, as Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC) and across the region expressed deep-rooted love and affection for Pakistan.
The day began with special Fajr prayers in mosques, where worshippers prayed for the safety, security, progress, and prosperity of Pakistan, and for the early success of the Kashmiris’ just struggle for the liberation of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
National flag-hoisting ceremonies were conducted across all major cities and towns, with Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) flags displayed atop public and private buildings. Various social, political, and representative organizations hosted programs to mark the occasion, emphasizing the historical significance of the Pakistan movement led by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
In Mirpur, the state’s metropolis, a grand national flag-hoisting ceremony highlighted the enduring affection of Kashmiris for Pakistan. Identical ceremonies were held in all ten districts of AJK, including Muzaffarabad, Neelam Valley, Jhelum Valley, Haveli, Bhimber, Kotli, Bagh, Sudhnoti, and Rawalakot, as well as their sub-divisional headquarters.
Despite strict restrictions imposed by Indian military and paramilitary forces in IIOJK, Kashmiris in remote and far-flung areas reportedly hoisted Pakistan and AJK flags on houses, trees, and electricity poles. These symbolic acts reflected their unwavering love and solidarity with Pakistan. Many local communities also organized cultural programs, traditional performances, and public gatherings, reinforcing the spirit of national pride and unity.
The celebrations across both sides of the LoC underline Kashmiris’ commitment to their cultural and historical ties with Pakistan and their aspiration for freedom and justice. Reports are awaited for further updates on Pakistan Day celebrations throughout the region.
