MIRPUR ( AJK): May 12 : Kashmiris living boyh sides of the line of control including AJK and IIOJK on Monday extended heartfelt congratulations to the brave people of Pakistan and its valiant armed forces on their resolute and dignified victory against Indian aggression.
This victory is a testament to the courage, unity, and resilience of the Pakistani nation and its defenders, a Srinagar- based spokesman Dr. Irfan Khan behalf of the Jammu Kashmir Salvation Movement (JKSM) said in a statement released to the media here on Tuesday.
JKSM also expresses deep appreciation to Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, the entire leadership of Pakistan’s armed forces, Prime Minister of Pakistan, and all political parties for their collective and professional handling of the recent escalation between Pakistan and India. Their united and strategic response reflects a mature and responsible approach that prioritizes peace while firmly defending national sovereignty and the rights of oppressed Kashmiris.
JKSM warmly welcomes the announcement of a ceasefire, considering it a much-needed step toward de-escalation and a moment of relief for the populations affected along the Line of Control. However, we urge all concerned parties to build upon this ceasefire with genuine political dialogue that includes the voices of the Kashmiri people.
Furthermore, Dr. Irfan Khan extends profound appreciation to Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), for his unequivocal acknowledgment that the Kashmir issue remains central to the dispute between Pakistan and India. His assertion that lasting peace in the region is unattainable without resolving the Kashmir conflict in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people resonates deeply with our longstanding position.
This candid recognition by the DG ISPR not only underscores the persistent centrality of the Kashmir issue in South Asian geopolitics but also reaffirms the legitimate struggle of the Kashmiri people for self-determination. It is a clarion call to the international community to acknowledge and act upon the imperative of a just and peaceful resolution to this protracted conflict.
JKSM remains steadfast in its commitment to advocating for the rights of the Kashmiri people and urges all stakeholders to engage in meaningful dialogue, keeping in view the aspirations of the Kashmiri populace. We believe that such constructive engagement, grounded in justice and mutual respect, is essential for enduring peace and stability in the region.
Dr. Irfan Khan further emphasized that the only viable and lasting solution to the Kashmir conflict lies in honoring the will of the people of Indian Occupied Jammu & Kashmir and adhering to the relevant United Nations resolutions. The Kashmiri people have made immense sacrifices for their fundamental right to self-determination, and any resolution that bypasses their voice will neither be just nor sustainable.
He reiterated that Kashmiris must be active participants in all dialogues, negotiations, and peace processes.
Dr. Khan also warned the international community that peace in South Asia is inextricably linked to peace in Kashmir. The recent five-day escalation between Pakistan and India once again highlighted the region’s vulnerability, proving beyond doubt that Kashmir is not just a territorial issue—it is a nuclear flashpoint. The stakes are too high to ignore, and silence or inaction from the global community risks destabilizing the entire region.
JKSM calls upon all peace-loving nations, international organizations, and human rights bodies to play their role in urging India to end its occupation, lift the draconian measures imposed on Kashmiris, and create space for a free and fair expression of their political will under international supervision.
