MIRPUR ( AJK): October 27 ; Javed Najam-ul-Saqib, Advocate, former President of Azad Jammu & Kashmir Supreme Court Bar Association, has said that October 27, 1947 marks one of the darkest and most tragic chapters in the history of Jammu and Kashmir — the day when India, in defiance of international norms and the will of the Kashmiri people, landed its paratroopers in Srinagar and imposed an illegal occupation that continues to this day.

Talking to reporters here on the eve of Kashmir Black Day observed on Monday, he stated that for seventy-eight years, the people of Jammu and Kashmir have remained steadfast in their struggle for freedom and the right to self-determination, shedding their blood and making unparalleled sacrifices. “Every Kashmiri martyr who embraced death wrapped in Pakistan’s flag,” he said, “is a testimony to the unbreakable bond between Kashmir and Pakistan.”

Najam-ul-Saqib reaffirmed full support for the Government of Pakistan and the Government of Azad Jammu & Kashmir for their unwavering, principled, and fact-based stance on the Kashmir issue. He appreciated Pakistan’s consistent efforts to highlight the Kashmir cause at international forums including the United Nations, the OIC, and global human rights bodies. “Pakistan’s voice for Kashmir is not diplomatic formality,” he noted, “but a moral, constitutional, and historical commitment — rooted in the same spirit that led to the Resolution of 19 July 1947, when the people of Jammu and Kashmir decided their future lay with Pakistan.”

Condemning India’s actions of August 5, 2019, which revoked the special status of Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Mr. Najam-ul-Saqib said these unilateral moves expose New Delhi’s expansionist mindset and represent a blatant violation of UN Security Council resolutions. He urged the international community to go beyond rhetoric and take tangible action to stop demographic engineering, enforced disappearances, and the suppression of political and religious freedoms in the occupied valley.

Paying tribute to the Armed Forces of Pakistan, he lauded their professional excellence, courage, and achievements in safeguarding national sovereignty and regional stability. “The success of Operation Bunyan-ul-Marsous symbolizes Pakistan’s readiness and resilience in the face of all threats,” he said. “The entire nation stands united behind its defenders, proud of their sacrifices.”

He also expressed solidarity with the people of Palestine, terming their suffering a mirror image of the Kashmiri tragedy. He called on the Muslim Ummah and the international community to adopt a uniform standard of justice by condemning all forms of occupation, oppression, and apartheid.

Najam-ul-Saqib reaffirmed that the Azad Jammu & Kashmir Supreme Court Bar Association remains committed to advocating the legal and moral dimensions of the Kashmir cause. “We will continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with the Government of Pakistan, the AJK government, and our brethren in occupied Jammu and Kashmir,” he declared.

He concluded by expressing firm belief that the day is not far when the sun of freedom will rise over Kashmir, and the valley will join Pakistan in peace, dignity, and faith — fulfilling the promise made by the martyrs and endorsed by history itself.
