Moscow, October 10 (QNA) – The Kremlin has announced that the inaugural Russia-Arab Summit will now be held in Moscow in November, following a postponement from its original date of October 15.
In a statement issued Friday, the Kremlin explained that the delay was due to the inability of several Arab leaders to attend amid the active implementation of the Gaza ceasefire agreement.
Yuri Ushakov, aide to the Russian president, stated that the summit’s timing will depend on the progress of President Donald Trump’s peace plan and other regional developments, adding that they will listen to proposals from Arab friends and consider all perspectives.
The Kremlin had confirmed the postponement yesterday, noting that President Vladimir Putin had informed Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al Sudani, whose country currently chairs the Arab League, of the decision during a phone call, requesting that it be formally communicated to Arab capitals.
Putin emphasized that rescheduling the summit was appropriate given the difficulty many invited Arab leaders would face in traveling to Moscow during the critical phase of the Gaza ceasefire implementation.
