Damascus, January 10 (QNA) – Leader of Syria’s new administration Ahmad Al Sharaa met on Friday with Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, who is visiting the Syrian capital, Damascus.
In statements posted by the Italian Foreign Ministry on the X platform, Tajani confirmed that his country seeks to open a “new page” in political relations and strengthen friendship with Syria, noting that Rome supports the country’s recovery and stability efforts.
Tajani met also during his visit to Syria with Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al Shaibani.
The Italian Foreign Minister is scheduled to meet a number of representatives of civil society, non-governmental organizations, and humanitarian staff in Syria.
