London, April 23 (QNA) – The United Kingdom (UK) government has announced that the ministerial-level Ukraine peace talks that were set to take place in London on Wednesday, were postponed.
This coincided with a downgrade in the level of representation from foreign ministers to officials, following Ukraine’s rejection of a US proposal involving the recognition of Russian sovereignty over Crimea.
According to a statement by the UK Foreign Office, the talks will continue, but will be closed to the media.
In a related development, local media reported that UK Foreign Secretary, David Lammy and his US counterpart, Marco Rubio, will not attend the talks.
Diplomats from the UK, the US, France, Germany, and Ukraine have postponed a high-level meeting that was also scheduled to take place in London today to discuss ways to end the Russia-Ukraine war.
