Maduro Calls for Colombian Military Unity as Tensions Escalate with Washington

Bogota, Colombia – Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Wednesday called on Colombia’s military and social movements to unite with Venezuela, warning that growing tensions with the United States threaten regional sovereignty and peace.

Speaking amid escalating rhetoric from Washington, Maduro said regional security depends on close cooperation among neighboring nations. He urged the Colombian armed forces to stand in solidarity with Venezuela to prevent what he described as foreign intervention.

“I appeal to the people of Colombia, its social movements, and its military for a perfect union with Venezuela,” Maduro said, stressing that unity is the strongest guarantee that no external power would challenge the sovereignty of either country.

Maduro’s appeal comes after renewed accusations from US President Donald Trump, who claimed Venezuela had stolen American oil, land, and other assets. The Venezuelan leader dismissed the allegations as colonial and warmongering, accusing Washington of using them to justify regime-change efforts.

He warned that any attempt to impose a foreign-backed government would fail, saying such an administration would quickly collapse and undermine Venezuela’s constitution and national resources.

Tensions further intensified after Trump threatened to designate Venezuela’s government as a Foreign Terrorist Organization. Trump also claimed that a large US naval force was positioned around Venezuela, describing it as an unprecedented show of military power in South America.

Maduro condemned the threats, reiterating that Venezuela would resist any attempt to undermine its independence and regional stability.
