Pakistan’s 11-year-old squash sensation, Mahnoor Ali, advanced to the Under-13 final at the US Junior Squash Open in Philadelphia. She defeated China’s Zinyuan Yin in a thrilling semi-final on Monday night, winning 11-7, 11-5, 5-11, 12-10.
Ali, currently ranked Asia’s No. 2, will face Egypt’s Linda Elsayed in the final on Tuesday. Elsayed cruised past USA’s Alice Huang in straight sets, 11-9, 11-7, 11-9.
Reflecting on her performance, Ali acknowledged the tough competition, saying, “I made some mistakes but will try to improve in the final.” Earlier on Monday, she edged past USA’s Kaylee Li in the quarterfinals, recovering from a first-set loss (9-11) to win 11-9, 11-9, 11-8.
Remaining undefeated throughout the tournament, which features nearly 1,200 players from over 40 countries, Ali credited her success to the support of the BARD (Bilquis and Abdul Razzak Dawood) Foundation.
