Doha, October 21, 2025 – Chairperson of the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC), H E Maryam bint Abdullah Al-Attiyah, has expressed her deep admiration for the speech delivered by H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, during the opening session of the Shura Council.
Al-Attiyah said the Amir’s address was marked by a profound vision, comprehensiveness, and clarity in addressing both national and global issues. She emphasized that His Highness’s words once again reflected his wise leadership and steadfast commitment to Qatar’s sustainable development and human rights principles.
She noted that the NHRC highly appreciates the Amir’s strong references to the goals of the Third National Development Strategy, the progress in non-hydrocarbon sectors, and the successful implementation of major national projects in energy diversification and the transition toward clean energy. These initiatives, she added, affirm Qatar’s leading global role in climate action and its contribution to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Al-Attiyah highlighted His Highness’s comprehensive vision in promoting and protecting human rights across all sectors, including infrastructure, health, education, and social welfare. She underlined the Amir’s emphasis on strengthening national efforts in education, investing in innovation, and keeping pace with global scientific and technological progress.
She also praised the Amir’s focus on sustainable development, responsible consumption, and the preservation of family values, alongside his continued support for youth empowerment and social cohesion.
Commenting on the Amir’s remarks regarding the development of the justice system, Al-Attiyah said these reflect His Highness’s commitment to enhancing judicial efficiency and ensuring the swift and fair resolution of cases, which contribute to protecting rights and upholding justice.
Al-Attiyah commended His Highness’s leadership in advancing Qatar’s role in promoting peace and stability through diplomacy and humanitarian action. She praised his principled stance in condemning the Israeli aggression that violated fundamental human rights and reaffirmed Qatar’s rejection of occupation, injustice, and racism.
Concluding her statement, Al-Attiyah expressed gratitude to H H the Amir for his wise leadership, saying: “Qatar, under His Highness’s vision, continues to stand as a global advocate for peace, stability, and human rights. We deeply value his enduring commitment to justice and humanitarian principles.”
