MI’s Dominance and RCB’s Dismay in IPL 2024

I love watching a clash of Virat with Rohit and so I decided to watch the RCB vs MI match at home along with couple of my friends.  It was a high scoring game but MI made a meal of the target with their power hitting but supported by mediocre bowling from RCB.

Since dew was expected Hardik of MI had no hesitation in asking Faf’s RCB to take the first strike. On a sticky wicket , arguably the best fast bowler in any formats of the game Jasprit Bumrah bowled a brilliant first spell accounting for the Orange Cap holder so far Virat Kohli in his first over . He picked up 4 more to bag 5 for 21 off his 4 overs. The finisher DInesh Karthik (DK)’s 53 not out off 23 balls helped RCB reach a competitive score of 196 runs off 20 overs after Faf scored 60 odd and Padithar a 50.

But MI came to bat with a mission and there was a carnage to be witnessed in Wankade stadium . Ishan scored 69 and Rohit scored 38 and the opening partnership was worth 101 in just under 9 overs. Then came the impact player for MI and one of the most destructive players in T20 format Suryakumar Yadav ( SKY) who scored 52 off 19 balls and then the captain Hardik and Tilak Varma helped MI cross the line by 15.3 overs. This was a clear mauling of RCB but they have to blame themselves in my view for poor bowling and unfortunately they don’t have match winning bowlers in their line up. This in my opinion is going to haunt RCB in this tournament , and it will be very difficult for them to reach the play offs after losing 5 matches out of the first 6 matches.

However I do want RCB to give a good fight as the tournament goes on, just for King Kohli, and try and reach the play offs. MI is always a quality team and after their initial set backs they seem to be on their winning ways especially with Bumrah and SKY performing to their best After all they didn’t win 5 IPL Titles by fluke.
