MUST Varsity excels in UI Green Metric World University Rankings 2024: Ranks 1st in AJ&K and 66th in Pakistan

MIRPUR (AJK): December 16: State-run Mirpur University of Science and Technology (MUST), Mirpur AJ&K has gained significant recognition in UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2024 securing impressive positions across various categories.

“MUST stands out as the only University in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJ&K) to achieve such a prestigious ranking. It is ranked 1st in AJ&K, 66th in Pakistan, 692nd in Asia and 1213th globally reflecting its remarkable academic reputation on both national and international levels”, head media wing of the MUST Mr. Hafeez told our Special Jammu and Kashmir state Correspondent Altaf Hamid Rao here on Monday.

The UI Green Metric World University Rankings, he continued, stood as an annual international evaluation of Universities’ sustainability performance, assessing factors such as campus infrastructure, energy and climate change initiatives, waste management, water conservation, transportation systems, education and research on sustainability. “This remarkable achievement highlights MUST’s steadfast commitment to advancing sustainability and fostering impactful research”, he said adding that the University’s efforts to minimize its ecological footprint while promoting sustainable practices and education have garnered global acknowledgment.

Brig (R) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younus Javed SI (M), Vice Chancellor MUST has, meanwhile, praised the dedicated efforts behind the University’s achievement, expressing immense pride in the contributions of the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC), particularly Director, Prof. Engr. Dr. Khuram Pervez Amber, his team and Dr. Abdul Jabbar the focal person for the UI GreenMetric Ranking.

Talking to this Correspondent here Monday, the VC also extended gratitude to the committee heads and members for their exceptional work in their respective areas. Vice Chancellor highlighted that this recognition not only affirms MUST’s commitment to sustainability but also motivates the university to continue striving for excellence.

He emphasized the importance of the university’s efforts in reducing its ecological footprint and promoting sustainability education, which have now been recognized on a global scale.

Brig. (Retd) Younis Javed further said MUST’s achievement in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2024 is a moment of pride and a testament to the university’s unwavering dedication to sustainability and research excellence and its role as a leader in promoting sustainability and research in the region of AJ&K, Congratulations to all employees and students of MUST on this remarkable achievement, he concluded.
