MIRPUR ( AJK): Dec. 7: State-run Mirpur University of Science and Technology (MUST) Mirpur’s Discipline Committee (UDC) on Sunday issued Show Cause Notices to Sixteen (16) Students identified as the principal instigators behind the forcible closure of University Campuses & Ghazi Elahi Bakhsh College Gates, it was officially said by the varsity management here on Sunday.
Official spokesman of the University told this Correspondent here on Sunday that only one student, receipant student appeared whilst the rest remained conspicuously absent blatantly exposing the utter lack of justification for these egregious & reprehensible actions which also inflicted a substantial operational loss of Rs. 3.9 million per day upon the University, following meticulous deliberations & exhaustive scrutiny of each case, weighing every dimension of their conduct UDC in a persevering move to uphold Discipline, safeguard the University’s Prestige and Institutional eminence has decreed the expulsion of Seven (07) Students, rustication of five (05) for a period of one year & fined remaining three (03), a decisive action to substantiate that while constructive feedback is welcomed, coercive or disruptive conduct will never be tolerated, emphasizing MUST’s commitment to jurisprudential rigor & the sanctity of its Academic Order”, he added.
The spokesman continued that the University Discipline Committee (UDC) of Mirpur University of Science and Technology MUST, Mirpur AJ&K issued Show Cause Notices to Sixteen (16) Students identified as the leading individuals behind the ongoing strike & the forced closure of University as well as Ghazi Elahi Bakhsh Government Girls Degree College gates. This action not only disrupted Mid-Term Examinations and halted academic & administrative activities but also inflicted a substantial operative loss of Rs. 3.9 million per day upon the university.
“The students were called to appear before the University Discipline Committee (UDC) to explain their actions and provide evidence in their defense. However only one (01) student appeared while fifteen (15) did not attend despite having enough opportunity”, the spokesman said.
The MUST spokesman said that the absence of the core influencers clearly show that these actions were not justified which disrupted the University’s functioning and harmed its reputation. “After careful consideration of each case UDC has imposed penalties including expulsion of seven (07) students; rustication of five (5) for one year and fined three (03) other students. The University directs all students to immediately reopen the campuses gates so that MUST can continue its mission of providing quality education & can hold the delayed Mid-Term Examinations without further deferral. MUST emphasizes that it would not accept any attempts to harm its Academic standards, Administration functioning & the reputation it has built over decades”, he said.
The spokesman concluded as saying “University leadership has always welcomed students’ feedback to improve teaching and administration affairs as it remains committed to involve students positively while being indefatigable in maintaining excellence in all areas of University life”.
