My Azerbaijan” Concert Celebrates Independence Day in Qatar

On May 31, 2025, with the support and organization of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the State of Qatar, a concert entitled “My Azerbaijan” by the music group led by singer Gunay Imamverdiyeva was held at the Doha University of Science and Technology on the occasion of the Independence Day of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The concert was attended by members of the Azerbaijani community living in Qatar, heads and diplomats of the diplomatic corps of Turkey, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in Doha with their families, a group of officers of the Turkish Armed Forces in Qatar and their families, influential media representatives, and students of the Doha University of Science and Technology.
The magnificent concert, held with the participation of Honored Artist and mugham performer Gunay Imamverdiyeva, tar player Kamal Nuriyev, kamanja player Togrul Asadullayev, and drum player Emin Jabrayilov, featured examples of Azerbaijan’s rich musical heritage.
The folk songs “I Have Brought You Greetings,” “Azerbaijan,” “Vatan Yaxshidi,” “Qel Sana Qurban,” “Shushanan Daghları,” “Azizizm Shirvan Gözel,” “Qarabagh,” “Yaşa Yaşa Menim Halkım,” “Azerbaijanım,” “Ay Beribakh,” “Mehriban Olag,” and other songs performed by Gunay Imamverdiyeva were met with thunderous applause from the participants.
Considering the presence of about 30 officers of the Turkish Embassy and the Turkish Armed Forces at the event, the singer specially performed the song “Çırpınırdı Kara Deniz.”
It should be noted that more than 300 listeners participated in the concert, and the concert lasted for two hours.
The Embassy’s goal in organizing such an event was to congratulate more than 1,400 Azerbaijani citizens living in Qatar on their Independence Day and celebrate the holiday together with our citizens.
