NAP Launches Drive to Remove Unlawful Foreigners and Afghan Nationals, Strengthen Security in Mirpur-AJK Division

MIRPUR (AJK), March 4 — In light of the ongoing fragile security situation and evolving regional challenges, the Regional Committee of the National Action Plan (NAP) met here on Wednesday to reinforce measures aimed at improving law and order across Mirpur Division, with a primary focus on eliminating terrorism from its roots.

The meeting, chaired by Commissioner Mirpur Division Raja Tahir Mumtaz Khan, was attended by senior officials including Deputy Inspector General of Police Range Mirpur Khalid Chohan, Deputy Commissioners of Mirpur, Bhimber, and Kotli, SSPs, DSPs, and officers of sensitive security agencies.

Officials reviewed key points of the National Action Plan and discussed actions against terrorism, extremism, illegal activities, and hateful content. The committee also emphasized the identification and evacuation of unlawful foreigners, including Afghan residents, to secure the division.

Additional directives included eliminating professional begging, monitoring prices during Ramadan, registering schools, securing key facilities, and ensuring robust security at all entry points of Mirpur, Kotli, and Bhimber districts. Movement of suspicious persons will be monitored through coordinated efforts with local administrations, education and government departments, councilors, and community members, with immediate reporting to police and security agencies.

Commissioner Raja Tahir Mumtaz Khan stressed the importance of fully implementing the National Action Plan to establish sustainable peace, protect lives and property, and ensure no concessions are made in maintaining security. He underscored that coordinated and proactive measures across all departments are critical to effectively neutralize threats and uphold public safety throughout the division.

The meeting concluded with a commitment to continued vigilance and strict enforcement of NAP directives to eradicate terrorism and maintain law and order across the Mirpur Division.
