Doha, December 17 (QNA) — HE Chairperson of Qatar Museums, Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al-Thani, affirmed that the State of Qatar continued in 2025 to significantly enhance its cultural presence on the global stage, reflecting a national vision that places culture at the heart of sustainable development.
Marking Qatar National Day, Her Excellency conveyed her deep gratitude and appreciation to HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani for his wise leadership, continuous support, and firm belief in culture as a cornerstone of national progress. She noted that this vision has positioned culture as a vital element in strengthening social cohesion while maintaining Qatar’s openness and engagement with the world.
Sheikha Al Mayassa described 2025 as a landmark year in Qatar’s cultural journey, coinciding with the celebration of two major milestones: the 50th anniversary of the Qatar National Museum and the 20th anniversary of Qatar Museums. These achievements, she said, reflect decades of institutional development aimed at serving society, preserving national memory, and safeguarding shared cultural heritage.
She highlighted that Qatar’s cultural momentum was further reinforced through notable international achievements, including the launch of Qatar’s permanent national pavilion at the Giardini of the Venice Biennale. This historic step marked a significant advancement in Qatar’s global cultural representation. In addition, the hosting of Art Basel Qatar in Doha demonstrated the growing confidence of leading international cultural institutions in Qatar’s vibrant and evolving cultural landscape.
Her Excellency emphasized that these integrated accomplishments reaffirm Qatar’s enduring belief that culture, when guided by a clear vision and strategic purpose, becomes a powerful force for strengthening community bonds. Such efforts, she noted, contribute to building a lasting cultural legacy that will continue to inspire and support future generations.
