JERUSALEM, Oct. 26 — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared on Sunday that Israel would not seek approval from any country or international body before carrying out military strikes in Gaza or Lebanon, despite the current ceasefire arrangements.
“Israel is an independent nation. We will defend ourselves using our own capabilities and continue to determine our own destiny,” Netanyahu said during his weekly cabinet meeting.
He emphasized that Israel alone would make decisions regarding its national security. “We do not seek anyone’s approval. We are in full control of our security,” he added.
Addressing recent discussions about deploying international peacekeeping forces in Gaza, Netanyahu said that Israel would decide which countries could participate. “We have made it clear that Israel will determine which forces are unacceptable to us, and we will continue to act accordingly,” he noted.
Netanyahu’s comments came after a series of high-level visits by senior White House officials to the region aimed at consolidating the fragile ceasefire in Gaza.
