New Zealand defeated India by eight wickets in a Test match, securing a rare win on Indian soil. The visitors chased down a modest target of 107 early on the final day, marking a significant triumph in their ongoing series.

India’s batting faltered in the first innings, collapsing for just 46 runs—one of their lowest totals at home. New Zealand responded strongly, posting 402 runs, with Tom Latham and Devon Conway leading the charge. Despite a better second-innings effort from India, scoring 462, the Kiwis remained in control.

Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj provided early breakthroughs during New Zealand’s chase, dismissing openers Conway and Latham cheaply. However, Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell steadied the innings, ensuring their team crossed the finish line comfortably.

The victory is New Zealand’s first Test win in India since 1988, breaking a 36-year drought. Their disciplined bowling and steady batting under pressure showcased their strength in both departments.

India will look to regroup as they prepare for the remaining matches of the series, hoping to bounce back from the unexpected defeat. Meanwhile, New Zealand’s win bolsters their confidence, positioning them as serious contenders in the series.
