Doha, March 13 (QNA): The National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) has welcomed the adoption of a United Nations Security Council resolution condemning the Iranian attacks on the State of Qatar and several Gulf and Arab countries.
HE Maryam bint Abdullah Al-Attiyah, Chairperson of the NHRC, praised the resolution adopted on March 11, 2026, which explicitly condemned the attacks on Qatar and a number of sister Arab states. She described the attacks as acts of aggression that violate the United Nations Charter and established principles of international law.
Al-Attiyah highlighted the importance of the resolution’s emphasis on respecting the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of states. She also welcomed the Council’s call to ensure the protection of civilians and vital civilian facilities.
She noted that the resolution clearly affirms that the ongoing attacks by the Islamic Republic of Iran against Qatar, Gulf states, and other Arab countries constitute acts of aggression prohibited under international law and related treaties.
The NHRC chairperson stressed that the resolution must be translated into practical and effective measures to ensure the immediate and unconditional cessation of all attacks targeting vital civilian infrastructure essential to people’s daily lives.
Al-Attiyah warned that such attacks pose serious risks and negatively affect the enjoyment of human rights, not only in the targeted countries but globally. She called on the international community to take firm steps to protect victims and their families and to ensure accountability for those responsible.
She further emphasized that holding perpetrators accountable is a key guarantee to prevent the recurrence of such acts of aggression and to uphold international justice and human rights protections.
