Over 50 Outlaws involved in Heinous Crimes netted by Mirpur-AJK police: SSP Khawar Ali Shaukat

MIRPUR ( AJK): December 31: Mirpur-AJK police have netted over 50 accused including a most wanted iinter-provincial robbers gang, involved in heinous crimes of murder, dacoities, robberies and illegal drug trafficking in the wake of an extensive crackdown against the criminals and their local facilitators across this district.

This was disclosed by Mirpur-AJK Senior Superintendent of Police Khawer Ali Shoukat while addressing a crowded news conference in his office here on Tuesday. The District police chief was flanked by DSP City Ch. Ansar Ali and other police officials on this occasion

the police have launched an extensive crackdown against criminals across the district and at the first leg of the drive police arrested more than 50 accused involved in serious crimes recovery a large quantity of stolen goods and drugs from their possession.

Elaborating, he said that the police arrested the inter-provincial gang of robbers and recovered the looted money from their possession.
Five kg of hashish, ice and hundreds of bottles of illicit liquor were recovered from the custody of the drug paddlers besides arrest of a local arms dealer. Huge catches of illicit arms were recovered from his possession, the SSP said.

The SSP further said that more than 700 cameras were being installed across the district to prevent crimes besides close monitoring of entry and exit points where the monitoring has been tightened.

Cases have been registered against the arrested accused in concerned police stations in the district, he added.

Besides 19 cases have been registered against arrested 34 illicit drug traffickers after 5 kg hashish, ice and hundreds of bottles of liquor were recovered from their custody.

Khawar said that 700 cameras wete being installed for complete surveillance of the entire district.

The security of the entry and exit of the district has been put on high alert in the wake of the drive to net the out laws, he disclosed.

SSP Mirpur Khawar Ali Shaukat further said that Police operations to net the outlaws involved in anti social activities including heinous crimes has been geared up under an effective strategy to prevent crimes across the district.

“In the last few days, dozens of suspects involved in robbery, illegal weapons, drug trafficking and counterfeit currency manufacturing equipment have been arrested and seized.

“Millions of rupees worth stolen goods have been recovered, he said while giving details that 03-member inter-provincial gang of robberies was arrested by Afzalpur police station of Mirpur district, he added.

Highlighting, the SSP disclosed that 05 babdirs of an interprovincial dacoits gang, wanted in looting Rs. 10 million from a businessman of Jahangira KPK, has been arrested and looted money of Rs. 35 lakh besides huge catches of illicit arms and drugs have been recovered from the custody of the arrested accused. Further investigations are in progress, he added.

SSP Khawar Ali Shaukat while unveiling the details, said that in police station Afzalpur one Aftab Ali, resident of Jangian Kotla Tehsil and Mirpur District who was going with his wife, when 03 accused stopped him at gun point and snatched Rs. 29000 and mobile phone and escaped. On the same day, a motorcyclist from Joian, Asmi Bau, a resident of Raipur, robbed Rs 3000 at gunpoint, and the third incident took place at Bela area police station Afzalpur, a motorcyclist, Masmi Waheed Murad, son of Muhammad Fazal Qoum Malik, a resident of Malkaabad, Kalri district, Bhambar. 95000 rupees in cash, a mobile phone, 2200 Saudi Riyals and escaped by force at gunpoint. A small bag containing 500/500 dyes, chemical paper (paper for making fake currency notes) was also recovered from the possession of the accused. The investigation is ongoing.

Dadyal police foiled the attempt of smuggling arms from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Mirpur while checking at Dhangali check post and recovered 23 thousand 500 bullets of 30 bore illegal ammunition hidden in the boot of the Revo vehicle. Smuggler Naqib Khan resident of Dara Adam Khel, Amjad Khan resident of Dara Adam Khel have been arrested, while the vehicle used in smuggling is four door. Vehiclr bearing re-registered number ATV-687 was also seized. In the continuation of the same investigation, illegal arms 06 pistols, 02 rifles 12 bore, 01 rifle 222, 01 rifle 07 mm and 500 rounds of ammunition were recovered from the accused Inayat Rahman son of Mohammad Rafiq resident of Sector C1 Mirpur, he said.

The SSP concluded that In this month of December 2024, several actions have been taken with reference to weapons and drugs. This month, 19 drug cases were registered against 34 accused, in which 355 bottles, 180 liters of alcohol, 05 kg of 130 grams of hashish, 165 grams of ice were recovered and 05 cases of illegal weapons were registered against 07 accused, from which 09 pistols, 23543 cartridges and 09 magazines were recovered. Mirpur district is a peace zone where criminal elements There is no place for police to protect the life and property of the people. In the future also, the police of Mirpur district will continue to carry out indiscriminate action against the criminal elements, he concluded.
