Muscat: The Ramadan Cricket Tournament 2026, organized by Pakistan Social Club (PSC) in collaboration with Pakistan School Muscat, officially commenced with the tournament draw ceremony held on Sunday, February 22, at the spacious hall of Pakistan Social Club.
The ceremony was attended by PSC Sport Director & Chief Organizer Kaleem Akhtar, Finance Secretary Imran Toor, Deputy Chief Organizer Mohsin Sheikh, Event Director Usman Lakhan, Logistics Director Chaudhry Ashraf, Media Director and Head Commentator Azra Aleem, former Sports Head Syed Aftab Gilani, Chaudhry Shakoor, and representatives of participating teams.
The proceedings, conducted by Chief Coordinator Syed Jamil Zaidi, began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by a detailed briefing on the tournament rules and regulations.
In his welcome address, Chief Organizer Kaleem Akhtar thanked all participating teams, sponsors, and volunteers for their commitment. He emphasized that the tournament is not only about competition but also about promoting unity, positive engagement, and community spirit during the holy month of Ramadan. He advised all teams to maintain discipline on and off the field, respect match officials, and uphold the true spirit of the game, reflecting sportsmanship, fairness, and mutual respect.
He further highlighted that, alongside exciting cricket matches, the tournament will feature community activities including quizzes, children’s games, and a variety of food stalls, creating a vibrant, family-friendly Ramadan environment.
PSC Finance Secretary Imran Toor congratulated the organizing team and guests, emphasizing the benefits of PSC membership. He announced that membership can now be conveniently obtained online with basic documents and a bank receipt and appreciated the efforts of General Secretary Kashif Ahmed Zaeem and the IT team for implementing the digital system.
Technical Committee Head Haider Ali provided detailed information about the tournament structure, after which the official draw was conducted. A total of 32 participating teams were divided into Groups A, B, C, and D.
The ceremony concluded with refreshments hosted by Ravi Restaurant.
The tournament began on Monday, February 23, at 9:00 PM. Opening fixtures included:
• Match 1 (Group A): Charwa XI vs OCT Ruwi
• Match 2 (Group C): Al Zain vs Bunsub XI
PSC has invited the community to attend and support the tournament, promoting sportsmanship, unity, and community engagement throughout Ramadan.
