Doha, June 13, 2024 – Qatar-based senior journalist Ashraf Siddiqui hosted a farewell breakfast at Sarhad Premium Restaurant, a local fine dining Pakistani restaurant in Doha, Qatar, in honor of the outgoing ambassadors of Malaysia, Nepal, South Korea, and Vietnam.
Among the diplomats who graced the event were the ambassadors of Japan, Brunei, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Turkey, and Sudan, along with local businessmen Issa Alkhazaei and Farhan Alsyed. Prominent Pakistani community members included Fawad Rana, Israr Khan Malazai, G.D. Khan Bangash, Riyaz Bakali, Haroon Rashid Qureshi, Waqas Malik, Muhammad Ibrahim, and Qaiser Anwar.
The guests were served traditional Pakistani breakfast cuisines including Halwa Chana Puri, Paratha, Nihari, Aalo Qeema, Eggs, Lahori Naan, Sweet Lassi, Fresh Orange Juice, Tea, and Coffee.
In his welcoming speech, renowned political analyst and journalist Ashraf Siddiqui, on behalf of the Pakistani community in Qatar, expressed his gratitude to all the guests for accepting their invitation to bid farewell to the outgoing esteemed diplomats from Pakistan-friendly countries.
Ashraf Siddiqui briefed the attendees about the situation in Pakistan and highlighted the challenges faced since its creation in 1947, being geographically surrounded by India, Iran, China, and Afghanistan. He emphasized Pakistan’s significant sacrifices, both physical and economic, in the long years of fighting against terrorism, hosting over 4 million Afghan refugees for over four decades without outside support, in addition to the internal displacement of around three million Pakistanis near the Afghanistan border.
Siddiqui thanked Issa AlKhazaei and Mohammad Babar Khalil, partners of the Sarhad Premium Restaurant, for their excellent arrangements and the preparation of delicious, authentic Pakistani breakfast dishes.
