Payment Of salaries to academic staff of private schools in AJK under stipulated labour laws ordered

MIRPUR (AJK): April 16 : Azad Jammu Kashmir government has directed the district administrations of all 10 AJK district to ensure the delivery of salaries to the qualified academic staff of the private-sector educational institutions in the region entirely in line with the stipulated minimum salary structure official sources said.

By following the directives, District Magistrate Mirpur Yasir Riaz had recently directed Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) MirpurAJK to immediately secure the details of the salaries being paid to staff / teachers posted in the private sector educational institutions by the owners of private schools.

In an official order issued here on Wednesday, the DC said that the required details have not so far been received to the district administration.

“It has come in to the notice of the District administration that private school owners were paying very low salaries to their staff / teachers, while the AJK government has fixed the minimum wages of Rs. 37,000 per month as per the prevelant Labour Laws, which were also not being implemented in letter and spirit”, the DC said in his directives.

Deputy Commissioner Yasir Riaz Chaudhry continued that since the recent clear attractive reduction in electricity tarrif, total administrative expenses have also decreased and no increase in inflation has been seen at the national level including in AJK. “Whereas on the contrary, fees have been increased by educational institutions on their own at the very beginning of the new academic year session.

“Moreover protests are also being held as repeatedly being appeared on print and social media regarding the the increased fee structure by the private school managements”, the DC underlined.
