Washington, April 7 – The Pentagon has abruptly cancelled a scheduled press briefing that was set to take place Tuesday morning, just hours before a key deadline linked to rising tensions with Iran.
According to an official notice issued Monday, the briefing—expected to be addressed by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Joint Chiefs Chairman Dan Caine—was called off without any explanation.
The cancellation comes shortly before a deadline announced by Donald Trump, urging Iran to reopen the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz or face possible military action targeting key infrastructure.
Trump reiterated his warning, stating that US forces possess the capability to carry out extensive strikes if no agreement is reached. He also set a firm timeline for compliance, increasing pressure on Tehran.
The move follows weeks of heightened tensions in the region, with ongoing hostilities contributing to instability and global concern. Analysts warn that any further escalation could impact international markets, energy supplies, and regional security.
Iran has rejected external pressure, maintaining its stance amid growing fears of a wider conflict that could have far-reaching consequences beyond the Middle East.
