Pope Francis, currently battling pneumonia and bronchitis, has shown a “good response” to treatment, according to the Vatican. The 88-year-old pontiff has been undergoing care at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital for over three weeks, with his condition remaining stable in recent days. The Vatican confirmed a slight improvement in his health.
The Pope has remained out of public view since his hospitalization on February 14, following breathing difficulties. Initially treated for bronchitis, he was later diagnosed with pneumonia in both lungs. Due to his previous medical history, including pleurisy and partial lung removal, Pope Francis is especially vulnerable to such infections.
On Saturday morning, he prayed in the chapel of his hospital suite, maintaining a connection with his faith during this challenging period. While doctors anticipate a prolonged recovery process given his age and medical background, the Pope’s response to treatment remains encouraging. Despite his condition, the Vatican reassured the public of his gradual improvement, keeping the faithful hopeful for his recovery.
