Ankara, March 28 (QNA) – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed the latest developments in Syria with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin during a phone call, along with bilateral relations and various regional and international issues.
According to a statement released by the Turkish presidency today, Erdogan emphasized during the call the importance of working with Russia to prevent actions that could undermine Syria’s territorial integrity. He also suggested the possibility of cooperating on the complete lifting of sanctions imposed on Syria.
The two leaders also addressed efforts to end the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine. Erdogan reaffirmed Turkiye’s readiness to provide all necessary support, including hosting peace negotiations with Ukraine, to help achieve a dignified and lasting peace.
He noted the significance of Turkish-Russian cooperation in resolving regional issues and stated that Ankara is closely following the current efforts aimed at ending the war between Russia and Ukraine.
Erdogan also pointed out that constructive steps toward ensuring the safety of commercial navigation in the Black Sea would contribute positively to the peace process. He stressed that Turkiye remains committed to doing its part to prevent the Black Sea from becoming a zone of conflict.
