Tashkent, April 07 (QNA) – HE President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, met Monday with HE Speaker of the Shura Council, Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim, and Presidents of the Arab Parliamentary Councils and Parliaments in the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) participating in the 150th General Assembly of the IPU (IPU-150), currently hosted by Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
HE Mirziyoyev applauded the Qatar-Uzbekistan ties, which are constantly evolving, along with a robust strategic partnership that reflects the keenness of the two nations’ leaderships to deepen cooperation in multiple fields, noting the exceptional parliamentary relationship between the Shura Council and the Uzbek Parliament.
His Excellency hailed the visit of the Shura Council’s delegation to Tashkent, which offered a constructive opportunity to share visions and bolster parliamentary cooperation for the shared interests of the two friendly countries, emphasizing that he is confident in the success of this event, underlining that he looks forward to positive outcomes that contribute to strengthening sustainable development efforts and the principles of cooperation and understanding among the peoples.
HE Al Ghanim took part in the session of the IPU’s Assembly, which was opened by HE the President of Uzbekistan on Monday.
HE Speaker of the Shura Council underscored the role performed by parliaments in bolstering peace, development, and social justice, calling for enhancing parliamentary cooperation to counter global challenges, such as poverty, climate change, and conflicts, in addition to empowering women and youth.
He emphasized the importance of consolidating the principle of peaceful resolution of conflicts, particularly in Ukraine and Palestine, and suggested the establishment of a global platform for young parliamentarians, in alignment with the IPU’s objectives.
