ASHKENT, January 11. /Dunyo IA/. : President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed achievements and outlined objectives for Uzbekistan’s electrical industry, a sector contributing 3.5% to total industry and 10% to exports. In 2023, the industry produced 31 trillion soums worth of goods and exported $1.3 billion. Investments reached $516 million, and 85 new enterprises were launched, employing over 27,000 people.
This year, 290 projects worth $4 billion are planned, with $600 million in investments and an increase in copper processing to 75%. Local production will play a key role, with $28 billion of the $75 billion in planned projects relying on domestic goods.
To support growth, 200 hectares in Ahangaran, 10 hectares in Fergana, and 4 hectares in Urgench have been allocated for electrical clusters, with 181 billion soums invested in infrastructure. Entrepreneurs can now construct and sell buildings in technoparks. High-tech manufacturers may receive a three-year exemption from profit and property taxes.
Notable projects include a $68 million Ahangaran copper cluster and developments in Kashkadarya, Fergana, and Urgench worth $30 million. A guaranteed market of 15 trillion soums is being created, and ministries will purchase locally-made renewable energy devices for social facilities.
President Mirziyoyev highlighted the sector’s critical role in advancing a green economy. He urged maximizing local resources and providing entrepreneurs with infrastructure, financing, and raw materials. Officials estimate these measures could boost exports to $3 billion and annual production to 50 trillion soums.
Plans also include innovation-driven product development and training skilled engineers and specialists to meet industry demands.
