Moscow, November 5 – Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the country’s new nuclear-powered systems will play a vital role in ensuring national security and maintaining global strategic balance for decades to come.
Speaking about Russia’s latest defense advancements, President Putin highlighted two key systems, the Burevestnik nuclear-powered cruise missile and the Poseidon nuclear-powered unmanned underwater vehicle, describing them as milestones in the nation’s military and technological progress.
Putin said that recent tests of the Burevestnik showed a range exceeding all existing missile systems, with the capability to strike targets at pre-calculated times with high precision. He noted that its compact, high-output nuclear reactor can be activated within seconds, unlike conventional reactors that require hours or days to start.
He added that work has begun on developing a new generation of nuclear-powered missiles expected to fly at speeds more than three times the speed of sound and potentially reach hypersonic levels.
On the Poseidon system, Putin explained that it incorporates advanced materials and components that allow it to operate at depths of up to 1,000 meters and at speeds much faster than modern surface vessels. He emphasized that these developments will strengthen Russia’s defense capability and uphold long-term strategic stability.
