Moscow, October 05 (QNA) – Russian President Vladimir Putin warned on Sunday that US plans to supply Ukraine with Tomahawk missiles would severely damage relations between Moscow and Washington.
There have been discussions about delivering new weapons systems to Ukraine, including long-range, high-precision systems such as Tomahawk missiles, Putin said in remarks Sunday.
Such a move would destroy Russian-American relations, or at the very least, the positive momentum that has recently begun to emerge, he added.
Asked whether Western leaders would heed the signals he conveyed during his speech at the Valdai Discussion Club, Putin said that it’s up to European leaders to decide how they will respond,†adding that he had spoken clearly at the forum about the core issues and his position.
Earlier, US Vice President J.D. Vance told Fox News that the administration is discussing the possibility of supplying Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine, but the final decision rests with the president.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov also weighed in, stating that any shipments containing weapons bound for Ukraine would be considered legitimate targets by Russia. He added that Western arms deliveries to Kyiv are obstructing negotiations and will have negative consequences.
