Istanbul, June 19, 2025 In a strategic phone call on Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed strong condemnation of Israel’s military strikes on Iran, labeling them as violations of the United Nations Charter, according to Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov.
Both leaders shared a unified stance, emphasizing that the worsening Middle East crisis cannot be resolved through military means. “Russia and China agree that a political solution is essential for restoring regional stability,” Ushakov said. President Putin reiterated Moscow’s readiness to mediate if necessary, and both sides committed to enhanced coordination between their respective ministries in the coming days.
President Xi, in remarks carried by Xinhua News Agency, stressed that an immediate ceasefire was critical and warned against the use of force in resolving international disputes. “Protecting civilians must remain the top priority,” Xi added, offering China’s continued support in facilitating peace.
The leaders also briefly addressed developments at the recent G7 Summit, reportedly describing it as a disappointing moment for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
In addition to discussing global tensions, Putin and Xi reviewed the status of Russia-China bilateral relations, agreeing to hold high-level talks in China on September 2 to further deepen cooperation.
The conversation underscores growing Russian-Chinese alignment on key international issues and their shared commitment to multilateral diplomacy over armed conflict.
