New Delhi, February 18 (QNA) – HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and HE Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi held an official meeting at Hyderabad House in New Delhi, reaffirming the strong bilateral ties between Qatar and India.
During the talks, HE Prime Minister Modi welcomed HH the Amir and his delegation, expressing gratitude for the visit and emphasizing the importance of expanding strategic cooperation. In response, HH the Amir thanked the Indian leadership for their warm hospitality and highlighted the deep-rooted historical relationship between the two nations. He reiterated Qatar’s commitment to strengthening economic partnerships, boosting trade exchanges, and enhancing collaboration in key sectors.
The discussions focused on expanding cooperation in economy, investment, and energy, while also addressing regional and international issues of mutual interest. Both leaders emphasized the significance of fostering long-term economic collaboration to benefit both countries.
As a key outcome of the meeting, the two leaders witnessed the exchange of two significant agreements: one establishing a bilateral strategic partnership and another aimed at avoiding double taxation and preventing fiscal evasion concerning income taxes. These agreements mark a new chapter in Qatar-India relations, facilitating smoother economic engagements.
The session was attended by senior officials from both sides, including HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani and other high-ranking Qatari ministers. The Indian delegation included HE External Affairs Minister Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, HE Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal, and several senior officials.
Following the talks, HE Prime Minister Modi hosted a luncheon banquet in honor of HH the Amir and his delegation, underscoring the deepening ties between the two nations. The visit reflects the commitment of both countries to strengthening their strategic partnership and fostering long-term economic and diplomatic cooperation.
