“Rafi ki Yadein 2024”
More than 1000 of passionate fans from Qatar celebrated 100th birth anniversary of the legendary playback singer Mohammed Rafi Saheb at DPS-MIS school auditorium was a resounding success.
The event was a heartfelt tribute to the timeless music of Mohammed Rafi Saheb with performances that captivated the audience.
The event was graced by the presence of Shahid Rafi, son of the legend and chairman of the Rafi Foundation of India, who served as the esteemed chief guest. Shahid Rafi touched the hearts of attendees with his anecdotes and reflections on his father’s legacy.
“Rafi ki Yaadein” not only celebrated the life and music of Mohammed Rafi but also fostered a sense of community and shared passion among fans in Qatar. The event was a testament to the enduring legacy of Rafi’s music, which continues to inspire generations.
The stage was set ablaze by electrifying performances from renowned singers, including Mohammed Thoyyib, known as Qatar 𝑹𝒂𝒇𝒊, and Sumi Aravind, whose renditions of classic Rafi songs resonated with fans. Emerging talents Athira Gopakumar , Hana Thoyyib, and Vaishnavi suresh also graced the stage adding their unique flair to the celebration.
“Rafi ki Yadein” brought together a diverse audience including distinguished guests such as the Ambassadors of Bangladesh and South Africa, HE. Mr. Mohammed Nazrul Islam and HE. Mr. Ghulam Hoosein Asmal, respectively.
Prominent community figures also attended, including Mr. Usman Kallan, President of DOM Qatar, Mrs. Shreekala, President of WMF, Mr. Mashhood Thiruthiyad, Advisory Board Chairman of DOM Qatar, Mr. Sherif Usman, GM of Oriental Auto Parts, and Mr. Sanaullah, MD of Gulf Lights.
Mohammed Thoyyib was honored with a “Special Achievement Award” from RAFI foundation of India represented by Mr. Shahid Rafi, In recognition of remarkable contributions to the popularization of Rafi’s music over the past 24 years in Qatar. This accolade highlights Thoyyib’s dedication to preserving and promoting the musical heritage of one of India’s greatest artists.
The program Directed by Muhammed Thoyyib. The event was expertly emceed by Imtiyaz and Nazia, ensuring a seamless flow of performances and tributes.
The coordination of the event was managed by Subair Pandavath, Siddik and Murali Manjalloor whose efforts contributed significantly to the event’s success.
