Doha, November 16 (QNA) – Qatar hosted the Universal Postal Union (UPU) Regional Workshop on Operational Efficiency and E-Commerce Development (ORE3), bringing together postal-sector representatives from across the Arab region to strengthen cooperation, innovation, and readiness for the rapidly evolving digital and e-commerce landscape.
Organized by the UPU Regional Office in collaboration with the Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) and Qatar Postal Services Company (Q-Post), the workshop forms part of the UPU’s Regional Development Plan 2022–2025 and marks a key milestone in the completion of the ORE Project.
The event provided a platform for participants to review progress made under the project and to exchange expertise on enhancing postal operational efficiency, improving risk-management mechanisms, and supporting e-commerce growth. Discussions focused on developing stronger national capabilities to manage postal risks, ensure business continuity, and deliver reliable services amid regional and global challenges.
Specialized technical sessions examined the impact of ORE initiatives on postal performance, the integration of digital and financial systems to improve cross-border operations, and the enhancement of monitoring tools through UPU systems such as the Global Monitoring System and the Integrated Quality of Service Reporting System. Participants also assessed ways to streamline customs cooperation, improve supply-chain efficiency, and reinforce coordination between postal, customs, and logistics stakeholders.
Held ahead of the UPU’s next strategy cycle (2026–2029), the workshop served as the concluding phase of the ORE Project, reviewing outcomes achieved and identifying lessons learned. It also laid the foundation for a new regional action plan aimed at strengthening postal and digital infrastructure, supporting e-commerce expansion, and enhancing the sector’s role in the broader digital economy of the Arab region.
The workshop reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to fostering regional collaboration and advancing modern postal systems capable of meeting the demands of the digital era.
