As part of the cooperation and coordination between the State of Qatar and the Government of Canada, the State of Qatar has officially joined today, 25 November 2025, Canada’s Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) program. This program is designated for citizens of visa-exempt countries wishing to travel to or transit through Canadian territory.
The eTA allows Qatari citizens to obtain electronic travel approval within minutes. The authorization is valid for five years, or until the passport expires, whichever comes first. It can be used for multiple entries without the need to reapply, with each stay allowing up to six months. The eTA issuance fee is 7 Canadian dollars.
This development comes as a result of ongoing cooperation and coordination. One of the key milestones was the visit of a delegation from the Department of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to the Ministry of Interior in the State of Qatar from 4 to 6 June 2024, during which they reviewed the procedures implemented by the Ministry and verified their alignment with the standards and requirements for joining the program.
Qatari citizens wishing to travel to Canada may apply for the Electronic Travel Authorization by scanning the QR Code.
