Qatar News Agency Honored for AI Innovation at Microsoft Event

Qatar News Agency (QNA) received an award for innovation in using artificial intelligence (AI) at the awards ceremony held during Microsoft’s exclusive event “Leading the Era of AI” on Tuesday. The event was held under the auspices and in the presence of HE Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai. HE Director-General of Qatar News Agency Ahmed bin Saeed Al Rumaihi received the award from HE Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai, in the presence of several officials, representatives of government agencies, experts, business leaders, innovators, and an elite group of Microsoft partners and customers.

QNA won the award for innovation in using AI in recognition of its unprecedented achievements in leveraging modern technology and advancing digital transformation efforts in media. This includes the use of the “audio and video analysis system,” an AI-based program that converts recorded video and audio clips into written text.

HE Ahmed bin Saeed Al Rumaihi expressed appreciation for the great support provided by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to governmental and non-governmental agencies in advancing the digital transformation sector in the country. This support includes the use of modern technology and advanced techniques, as well as the application of AI to develop services and enhance the work environment.

His Excellency highlighted the dedication of HE the Minister of Communications and Information Technology to advancing digital transformation across various government institutions, keeping pace with the latest developments in information and communications technology both nationally and internationally. This effort aims to enhance the digital future of the country and consolidate its position as a smart and technologically advanced nation.

HE Al Rumaihi pointed out that QNA’s receipt of the award for innovation in using AI reflects its commitment to adopting modern technologies in its operations and its determination to leverage AI techniques to improve work performance and advance media services, particularly in the field of electronic media.
