Doha, January 29 (QNA) – The State of Qatar and the Sultanate of Oman issued a joint communique on the occasion of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani’s state visit to Oman, where he met with HM Sultan Haitham bin Tariq. The two-day visit, held on January 28-29, reaffirmed the deep-rooted historical ties and aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation.
During their discussions, the two leaders reviewed the progress of joint initiatives and emphasized expanding economic and investment partnerships. They encouraged both public and private sectors to explore new opportunities and diversify areas of cooperation to meet the aspirations of their peoples. The visit saw the signing of several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and executive programs across various sectors, reflecting their commitment to strengthening mutual interests.
Both sides commended the work of the Qatari-Omani Joint Committee in advancing economic collaboration and implementing joint projects. They agreed to further develop new areas of partnership to achieve shared economic and investment goals. The leaders also discussed the progress of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and its role in fostering regional cohesion, integration, and cooperation.
On regional and international issues, the two sides reiterated their commitment to resolving conflicts through peaceful means and called for enhanced dialogue and cooperation to promote security and stability worldwide. They stressed the importance of continuous consultation and coordination to protect regional security and prosperity.
Regarding Gaza, the leaders urged all parties to implement the detainee exchange agreement as a step toward lasting peace. They also underscored the need for uninterrupted humanitarian aid and reconstruction efforts. The Omani side commended Qatar’s mediation efforts, in collaboration with Egypt and the U.S., in securing the agreement and working towards sustainable regional stability.
On Syria, both countries reaffirmed their support for its sovereignty and territorial integrity, advocating for a political transition ensuring national unity and stability.
At the conclusion of the visit, HH the Amir expressed gratitude for Oman’s warm hospitality, while HM Sultan Haitham extended his best wishes for Qatar’s continued progress and prosperity.
