Cairo, November 30 (QNA) – The State of Qatar participated in an event held at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo to mark the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. The event was organized Sunday by the General Secretariat of the Arab League in line with the UN General Assembly resolution of 1977, which designated the day to reaffirm global support for the Palestinian cause.
Qatar’s delegation was headed by Maryam Ahmed Al Shaibi, Deputy Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the Arab League.
The gathering underscored the international community’s responsibility toward ending the decades-long Israeli occupation and supporting the Palestinian people’s legitimate struggle for freedom, independence, and the establishment of their sovereign state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative.
The program featured solidarity speeches that highlighted the ongoing humanitarian suffering of Palestinians, along with the screening of a short film produced by the General Secretariat. The film depicted the Palestinian people’s prolonged ordeal marked by ethnic cleansing, forced displacement, and the denial of their right to self-determination.
The event also emphasized the contributions of individuals and institutions worldwide who continue to stand with the Palestinian people in defense of justice, human rights, and humanitarian principles.
On the sidelines, a fine art exhibition was held featuring photographs illustrating the Palestinian cause, organized in cooperation with the General Secretariat and the Permanent Mission of the State of Palestine to the Arab League. In addition, several institutions and members of the Palestinian community were honored for their steadfast efforts and sacrifices.
