Cairo, March 23 (QNA) – HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani participated in the ministerial committee meeting on Gaza, held in Cairo on Sunday. The meeting included HE High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas and key Arab and Islamic foreign ministers.

Among the participants were HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Palestine Dr. Mohammed Mustafa, HE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Jordan Dr. Ayman Al Safadi, HH Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, HE Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdel Aati, HE Bahraini Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, HE Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, and HE Minister of State at the UAE Foreign Ministry Khalifa bin Shaheen Al Marar. Also attending were HE Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit, HE Secretary-General of the OIC Hissein Brahim Taha, and representatives from Indonesia and Nigeria.

The meeting focused on diplomatic efforts to reinstate the ceasefire in Gaza following the resumption of Israeli military aggression, ensuring the sustainable and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid to alleviate the severe crisis. Participants expressed grave concern over the deteriorating situation, particularly the Israeli occupation’s electricity cuts, restrictions on aid, and escalating tensions in the occupied West Bank. The discussions also emphasized the necessity of a comprehensive and just resolution to the conflict, including the implementation of the two-state solution as outlined in the Arab Peace Initiative and international resolutions.

HE Sheikh Mohammed reaffirmed Qatar’s firm commitment to mediation efforts and the pursuit of lasting peace. He strongly condemned the Israeli bombardment of civilians and civilian infrastructure in Gaza, stressing the urgent need for collective regional and international action to hold Israel accountable and ensure the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement.

He further underscored that sustainable peace and stability in the region could only be achieved through a just settlement that guarantees the Palestinian people’s legitimate rights, including the establishment of an independent state along the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
