Madrid, May 25 (QNA) – HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani participated in the expanded meeting held Sunday in Madrid between the Ministerial Committee assigned by the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit on developments in Gaza, the Madrid Group, and several European countries.
The meeting reviewed the ongoing situation in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, and international efforts to halt the war and end the humanitarian crisis. Discussions also focused on preparations for the high-level international conference on the peaceful resolution of the Palestinian issue and the implementation of the two-state solution, scheduled to be held in June at the United Nations headquarters in New York, co-chaired by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the French Republic.
Members of the Ministerial Committee emphasized the importance of joint cooperation to ensure the success of this conference by securing clear commitments and actionable support across political, economic, and security levels.
The committee reiterated the need to implement the two-state solution in accordance with relevant international resolutions, guaranteeing the Palestinian people their right to establish an independent state along the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. They also commended the Madrid Group and European nations for their support toward achieving a just and lasting peace.
The members expressed hope for the success of Qatari-Egyptian-American mediation efforts to secure a ceasefire and facilitate the release of prisoners and detainees. They called for the immediate and unconditional opening of all Gaza crossings and the delivery of humanitarian, medical, and relief aid.
Condemning the Israeli occupation’s continued violations against civilians in Gaza, the committee stressed the importance of confronting these breaches of international and humanitarian law. They reaffirmed support for Gaza’s reconstruction, praised Palestinian government reforms, and underscored their commitment to the security, stability, and aspirations of the Palestinian people.
