Doha, October 23 (QNA) – HE Chairperson of Qatar Media Corporation (QMC) Sheikh Hamad bin Thamer Al-Thani met on Thursday with HE Minister of Media of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Salman bin Yousef Al Dosari to discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation in the media sector.
The meeting was held within the framework of the Media Committee emanating from the Qatari-Saudi Coordination Council. It was attended by HE CEO of QMC Sheikh Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani and HE Director-General of Qatar News Agency (QNA) Ahmed bin Saeed Al Rumaihi. On the Saudi side, attendees included HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Media for External Media Dr. Khalid Al Ghamdi, HE Acting President of the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) Ali bin Abdullah Alzaid, and HE CEO of the Saudi Broadcasting Authority Mohammad bin Fahd Al Harithi.
The two sides reviewed ongoing programs, projects, and partnerships in the media field and highlighted the importance of producing professional and balanced content that reflects the strong fraternal ties between the two countries. They underscored the role of media institutions in supporting the vision of their wise leaderships and in serving the common interests of their peoples.
HE Sheikh Hamad bin Thamer Al-Thani emphasized that the deep-rooted relations and shared values between Qatar and Saudi Arabia provide a solid foundation for advancing joint media initiatives. He noted that the recent steps taken in developing cooperation between the media institutions of both countries represent a promising beginning toward greater integration and sustainability.
HE Minister Salman Al Dosari expressed his satisfaction with the progress of media relations, stressing the importance of further expanding cooperation to match the distinguished level of bilateral relations.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to launch several joint initiatives, including training programs for young media professionals, cooperation on broadcasting rights for national team matches, and a joint television drama highlighting the historical ties between the two nations. A joint working group will follow up on these projects through monthly meetings alternating between Doha and Riyadh.
