Qatar Volunteers launched its annual Ramadan Iftar distribution campaign in the Industrial Area, marking its 18th year of service during the holy month. The initiative reflects the organization’s ongoing commitment to supporting workers and fostering community solidarity during Ramadan, particularly for those living in labour camps and away from their families.
This year’s drive was led by Mehran Abbasi, with planning and coordination by volunteers including Asif Chaudhary, Naveed Ahmad, and representatives from the Pakistan Overseas Community Qatar (POCQ), including Asif and Ikram Butt. Community supporter Javaid Chauhan also contributed to the effort.
Due to regional circumstances and government guidelines, the event was postponed twice. The organizers ultimately prepared ready-to-eat Iftar packs, which were distributed across three labour camp locations in the Industrial Area, allowing workers to break their fast comfortably, safely, and with dignity.
Volunteers expressed gratitude to all participants who joined on short notice, highlighting the spirit of community collaboration, generosity, and empathy during Ramadan. The event also served as a reminder of the importance of humanitarian service and social responsibility in challenging times.
Since 2008, the annual Iftar drive has been a signature initiative of Qatar Volunteers. In addition to Ramadan programs, the organization regularly conducts other community welfare initiatives, including beach clean-ups, blood donation campaigns, and heat-wave awareness programs, demonstrating its continued commitment to humanitarian service, environmental stewardship, and public health awareness across Qatar.
Through such initiatives, Qatar Volunteers continues to strengthen community bonds, support vulnerable groups, and inspire civic engagement across the country.
