Brussels, October 15 (QNA) – Qatar’s Ambassador to the European Union and NATO, HE Abdulaziz bin Ahmed Al Jehani Al Malki, highlighted the significance of the first-ever summit between Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and European Union (EU) leaders, scheduled for Wednesday in Brussels.
In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), HE Al Malki called the summit a historic moment in GCC-EU relations, reflecting both sides’ commitment to closer cooperation amidst global challenges. The leaders will discuss pressing regional and international issues, including security, trade, climate change, energy, and cybersecurity. Topics like carbon reduction, the green economy, and the Schengen visa process are also on the agenda.
The Ambassador said the summit aims to unify positions on current crises and develop future-focused projects, emphasizing the importance of political stability for economic growth. “Qatar advocates peace, security, and negotiations to resolve conflicts,” he stated.
HE Al Malki expressed hope that the summit’s communique will provide a roadmap for conflict resolution and international cooperation while outlining mechanisms to prevent future wars.
He praised Qatar’s global mediation efforts, highlighting its role in conflicts like the Russian-Ukrainian war, crises in Gaza and Lebanon, and humanitarian operations in Afghanistan. He reaffirmed Qatar’s strong partnership with NATO, emphasizing its commitment to international peace and security.
