MIRPUR ( AJK): April 5: Local authorities, in an emergent meeting here Saturday, categorically decided to strictly implement the evacuation of foreigners, mostly Afghan refugees residing across this district of Azad Jammu Kashmir as per the instructions of the Government of Pakistan.
Deputy Commissioner Mirpur Yasir Riaz Chaudhry chaired the meeting, also attended by Khawar Ali Shaukat, Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Raja Umar Tariq Khan and senior local officers of security agencies, Our Special Jammu Kashmir state Correspondent Altaf Hamid Rao reports quoting authorities late Saturday.
The meeting reviewed the sofar progress regarding the evacuation of Afghan refugees from this district.
As decided by the Government of Pakistan and Azad Jammu Kashmir, the Afghan residents living across the district will be sent back through various transit points in a very peaceful environment and with dignity and respect and no any Afghan resident will be mistreated.
Addressing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Yasir Riaz Chaudhry appealed to the people of the district to cooperate with the administration and security agencies, including the police, in the ongoing swift process of evacuation of Afghan residents from the jurisdiction of this district besides rest parts of AJK to ensure implementation of the government orders to this direction in letter and spirit.
It may be,added that according to an investigation conducted by this J and K State Correspondent, a big chunk of the registered and unregistered Afghan Refugees, living in various parts of this district, have sofar been evacuated respectfully, or they have moved back to their home country voluntarily to avert any future inconvenience under the prevailing law of the land.
