Washington, June 16 – CNN has unveiled further details about the upcoming June 27 debate between US President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump, setting expectations for a high-stakes confrontation ahead of the general election.
The 90-minute debate, set in Atlanta, Georgia, will be moderated by CNN’s Jake Tapper and Dana Bash. Both campaigns have accepted the invitation and agreed to the established rules, CNN confirmed.
Key details include:
• Commercial Breaks: Two commercial breaks during which campaign staff cannot interact with the candidates.
• Audience: There will be no live studio audience.
• Podium Positions: Determined by a coin flip.
• Microphones: Muted except when it’s a candidate’s turn to speak.
• Allowed Items: Candidates will have a pen, a pad of paper, and a water bottle, but props and pre-written notes are prohibited.
CNN stated that moderators will have the authority to use “all tools at their disposal to enforce timing and ensure a civilized discussion.
